CCICM was delighted to pay for much-needed hot drinks as part of a local community group’s sponsored, New Year,
cold-water swim to raise funds for mental health charity Mind Cymru (Wales).

Woolly Hatters enjoy hot drinks and cakes from CCICM after their New Year fund-raising swim at Criccieth beach.
As a leading county employer in North Wales, CCICM sponsored the teas and coffees for 40 Woolly Hatters’ swimmers and their supporters – who went straight from the freezing sea at Criccieth into a beachfront restaurant called Dylan’s to hold a fund-raising bake sale.
Woolly Hatters’ group leader Beth Bentley says: “What a great start to the New Year and 2020! We really appreciate the support of CCICM, Dylan’s, and our swimmers, bakers, and supporters. They helped raise £240 for our chosen charity Mind Cymru, especially locally in Gwynedd and Anglesey.”
Chosen Charity
Beth says she began the Woolly Hatters – so-called because they wear only woolly hats as well as swimming costumes when in the cold water – because she was “in a state of desperation after a pretty tough 12 months.” Then friends with similar mental health issues started joining her, and it evolved into a group.
“The mental-health benefits of cold-water swimming are something anyone who’s tried it will rave about. Our groups will welcome everyone, providing support, advice and company. It’s free, so just turn up! Details of swims – including New Year – are on our social media,” adds Beth.
Workplace Wellness
CCICM’s Marketing & Communications Manager, Ian Spindley, says: “A key part of our company Mission is to continuously create a happy, healthy, and rewarding working environment, so staff can perform to their full potential.
“For our 70+ employees, this includes a workplace wellness scheme with free support, flexible working where agreed, and two nationally-accredited awards – Investors In People Gold (Advanced) and Chwarae Teg FairPlay (diversity and equality) – which all demonstrate what a great company it is,” adds Ian.
